As I finished reading a good friend of mine's Vow As A Man I realize that many people probably don't know or don't comprehend how my mind works, so I feel obligated to fill any who are curious in. Everything I do, think or say, I base off a philosophy I keep dear to me. First of all, I don't have much in this world, and It has not been kind to me. When I must commit to something, or pay a debt to someone, all I have is my word; my honor. When I become honorbound to someone or something, I hold that internal promise dearly, it weighs on my mind heavily, to ensure that i never forget the promise I made. I do my best to pledge myself to completing the terms I set for myself. Now what the hell does this have to do with anything?
You see, I am not perfect. I make mistakes, and have made mistakes before. Now, I must make amends for all the wrong I did, I'm currently doing, or that I may one day do.I bound myself to this calling,a lifelong debt I feel I must pay, because i fear the consequences of my actions when I leave this world. So, i created these guidelines for myself, to keep my goal clear, and to light the way to my salvation.
1. My word is sacred, it means everything. NEVER break an oath you take.
2. There is no honor in ignoring the weak. I am weak in the eyes of someone greater, and do not wish upon another the burden deniel brings.
3. I am imperfect, but this is no excuse for failure. Work endlessly to fix your faults.
4. The world is not fair or kind, but I am. Do not deny compassion to another because someone denied it to you.
5. My enemy is still my brother.
6. All men make mistakes. I have made many. All must pay the debt they owe to heaven, but do not in debt another to myself.
7. Give your sword, your hand, your friendship, your life to any that sincerely asks this of you.
8. I am my brother's keeper, and he is mine. Guard him well...........
9. Pay your debt, and in mercy may Heaven hold my oath fulfilled.
